Act V

December 23, 2021 by Ann Emanuele Leave a Comment

Today I am 65 – Act V

How do I feel about that?  I feel thankful.  We all know those who never reached 65, so why be unhappy?  I feel blessed for all my children, husband, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, family, and friends.

We can sit back and say I wish, but that is just a wish.

What have I learned?

You know when you are driving down a highway, and there are long stretches where you don’t need to make a lot of movement in the wheel?  Or you head down a winding hill, and you downshift, carefully passing trucks and cars.

Then, head back up the mountain and stay away from the cars and trucks you see making poor decisions?

Keep a good distance.

Life is like a steering wheel and a long winding road. Don’t overcorrect.

Keep track of the time, but don’t try to beat the clock.  You will not make up one hour. You might make up 10 minutes or less.

Watch the sunrise or sunset and listen to the greatest hits of all time or sing your favorite hymn.

I think about cheating death, surviving events, the people I loved who didn’t make it past 30, 40, 50, or 60.

I now realize I need more vacations to regenerate.

And the Time to Create Act V

The Back Story

If you have read my stories, you read the story of A Shift in Paradigm. If you are watching your life, life is full of paradigms. What we think is real may not be. It’s ok to be wrong; it means you are learning.

If you do one thing differently, pay attention to your perceptions of others.

In “sales,” a “no” means your customer does not have enough information, or they would have said yes. Or you did not do a very good job of qualifying the customer, or they never bonded with you, or they didn’t like the way you greeted them. The first few seconds of meeting someone are powerful, both good and bad.

It’s a lot harder to change perception when you jump from hello to asking for the sale.

Life is like sales; don’t jump to close the sale. Instead, go through the sales steps, aka life, calmly.

Enjoy the one-on-one, look into the eyes of your customer, give more than you take.
